LAHORE: The International Cricket Council (ICC) Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja has arrived in Lahore to hold crucial talks with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi over Pakistan’s decision to boycott its T20 World Cup match against India.

Representing Singapore on the ICC board, Khawaja is expected to discuss the implications of Pakistan’s stance and explore possible solutions to the ongoing dispute.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam has also arrived in Pakistan to participate in the meetings. The main agenda is to persuade Pakistan to reconsider its refusal to play the round-robin match against India in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Pakistan recently announced it would not face India as a gesture of solidarity with Bangladesh, following Dhaka’s request to move its matches from India to Sri Lanka due to security concerns. The ICC rejected the request and replaced Bangladesh with Scotland in the tournament.

Pakistan’s decision could lead to significant financial losses for the ICC, given the high commercial value of India-Pakistan matches. The scheduled match is set for February in Colombo.

BCB President Aminul Islam will return to Dhaka after attending the meetings in Lahore. Meanwhile, the ICC is set to hold another emergency meeting today regarding Pakistan’s stance.
