ISLAMABAD: Pakistan security forces conducted a successful counteroffensive operation which resulted in heavy casualties for Afghan Taliban soldiers at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The operation resulted in the death of 58 Afghan fighters while more than 100 others sustained injuries. The operation led to the complete destruction of 12 Taliban positions while Pakistani forces captured 5 additional posts.

The security sources reported that the airstrikes destroyed an entire ammunition depot together with 3 Afghan battalion bases and a sector command centre.

The Pakistani military attacked enemy tanks and artillery guns and armoured personnel carriers through their current operations which resulted in the destruction of more than 30 military vehicles.

The officials reported that the Afghan militants received a powerful warning through the ongoing retaliatory attacks which continued with high intensity.

Earlier, the Pakistani armed forces conducted airstrikes against the Afghan cities of Kabul and Kandahar after receiving confirmation from security sources about unprovoked border attacks which occurred along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The airstrikes targeted essential Taliban locations according to reports which caused some Taliban leaders to seek refuge in underground caves. The operations resulted in the destruction of multiple Taliban hideouts which were located near the Kurram sector.

The security officials stated that the Pakistani armed forces will provide a strong response against any military attacks which occur without provocation while they protect national borders and secure public safety.

The operations demonstrate Pakistan’s dedication to eliminating cross-border threats which try to destabilize the regional area.
