FAISLABAD: Pakistan defeated South Africa by 7 wickets in the third one-day international series (ODI), for the first time on home ground, successfully clinching the three-match series.
In the match held in Faisalabad, Pakistan achieved the target of 144 runs set by South Africa in just 25.1 overs for the loss of three wickets. South Africa scored 143 runs in their allotted 50 overs, which Pakistan chased down with a total of 144 runs, losing just 3 wickets in 25.1 overs. With this victory, Pakistan took a decisive lead in the series, finishing 1-2.
For South Africa, Quinton de Kock contributed 53 runs, and Lohan-Dre Pretorius played notably well with 39 runs. However, Pakistan’s bowlers performed exceptionally, not giving the South African batsmen much of a chance to score freely. Abrar Ahmed stood out with an impressive bowling performance, taking 4 wickets, while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Salman Agha both secured 2 wickets each. Other bowlers also provided solid support, effectively restricting the South African team to 143 runs.
In Pakistan’s innings, Saim Ayub led the team to victory with a brilliant 77 runs, while captain Babar Azam was run out after scoring 27 runs. Wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten at 32 runs. Pakistan’s aggressive batting, combined with balanced bowling, prevented South Africa from mounting a comeback.
