ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan cricket team captain Sarfraz Ahmed has announced his retirement from international cricket. Throughout his career, he represented Pakistan in 54 Test matches, 61 T20 Internationals, and 117 One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Sarfraz Ahmed scored a total of 6,164 runs in international cricket and led Pakistan in 100 matches. Under his captaincy, Pakistan won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. He also guided the team to the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20 rankings, making him the only captain in Pakistan’s history to win ICC titles at both junior and senior levels. In 2018, the Government of Pakistan honored him with the Pride of Performance award.

Reflecting on his career, Sarfraz stated, representing Pakistan has been the greatest honor of my life. Winning the Under-19 World Cup and the Champions Trophy are unforgettable moments. I am deeply grateful for the support of my teammates, coaches, family, and fans. Leading Pakistan in all three formats was a dream come true. I always aimed to play fearless cricket and to build a united team. I will always cherish the trust and support of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Cricket will always remain close to my heart, and I will continue to serve the game.
