COLOMBO: Following the destruction caused by Cyclone Dattwa in Sri Lanka, Pakistan’s relief efforts are ongoing. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has rapidly accelerated aid operations for the affected Sri Lankan population.
On Thursday, NDMA sent out 20 tons of relief supplies through SriLankan Airlines from Lahore to Colombo. The assistance contains tarpaulins and powdered milk for delivering prompt aid.
A dedicated Search and Rescue unit from the Pakistan Army is currently deployed in Sri Lanka. Is actively engaged in providing aid.
Additionally, a Pakistan Air Force C-130 plane transporting a 47-person relief crew and 6.5 tons of provisions has reached Sri Lanka. Besides the assistance, the NDMA has sent 200 tons of aid materials via sea.
The NDMA will keep dispatching assistance via commercial airlines while Pakistan Navy vessels and helicopters are also engaged in the relief and rescue efforts.
During these hard times, Pakistan is still devoted to offering the people of Sri Lanka any type of help that is possible. The continuing aid operations are a sign of the strong bond and friendship that exists between the two countries and also a sign of Pakistan’s unshakable determination to promote solidarity in the region.
