ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army has destroyed a crucial Afghan terrorist post in the Baramcha sector along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. This operation comes as a strong retaliatory response to unprovoked firing from Afghan forces.

Citing security sources, heavy artillery fire and tank shells from the Armored Corps of the Pakistan Army brought down the enemy positions. The operation precisely hit multiple enemy check posts and hideouts, one of which was the important terrorist post in Baramcha.

Pakistan Army remains to conduct with high operational tempo against Afghan forces in retaliation for their random firing across the border. The plan is to halt and at the same time, secure the border region through this decisive action.

Security officials have a strong belief that this operation will not only further establish control over the border areas but also communicate very clearly to the people who are trying to violate Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Earlier, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has strongly condemned the recent firing by Afghan forces on Pakistani territories as unprovoked, describing it as gross violation of international law.

While commenting on the incident, Mohsin Naqvi made it clear that any targeting of civilian areas would not be tolerated and a firm response would be the outcome. “Pakistan’s forces are on alert and reacting with full force, brick for stone,” he declared.

Moreover, the minister blamed Afghanistan of being under the spell of Pakistan’s historical foes, claiming that the hostility is just a minute part of a huge scheme devised by “eternal enemies.”

Naqvi claimed that the people of Pakistan are standing together with their courageous armed forces like a “wall of steel.” He cautioned that the country would take reprisals of the same magnitude used against India, further stating that Pakistan would put off Afghanistan’s intentions of even looking at it with hostility.

The statements were made during a period of already tense relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan and the border which is mainly attributed to previous cross-border firing incidents. Pakistani security forces are on a high alert level to protect the borders of the country.
