PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) on Thursday stated that over 1.3 million tourists, including foreigners, visited the province’s scenic places despite the challenges posed by terrorism.
Despite the terrorist incidents that have occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year, the tourism sector has experienced significant activity. According to data released by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority, more than 1.3 million domestic tourists and over 7,000 foreign tourists visited various attractions in the region from January 1 to October 15 this year.
The report highlights that Swat Valley and Galiyat were particularly popular destinations, attracting 4.297 million and 3.428 million domestic tourists, respectively. Additionally, Naran Kaghan drew more than 2.55 million domestic visitors. In terms of foreign tourist arrivals, Kalash Valley and Garm Chashma led the way, welcoming 1,935 foreign tourists.

These figures were compiled with the assistance of police and district administration check posts. Officials indicate that the increase in tourism has not only boosted the local economy but has also restored public confidence in the law and order situation. While incidents of terrorism have occurred sporadically in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the merged districts, the substantial influx of both domestic and foreign tourists is viewed as a positive development.
