The opposition alliance, Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aien Pakistan decided to respond positively to goverment offer of talks to end confrontation between the state institutes.

The meeting held in Islamabad last night was attended by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Allama Nasir Abbas, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Asad Qaiser, Salman Akram Raja and other important leaders including the central leadership of PTI. According to sources, the meeting closely reviewed Rana Sanaullah’s recent statements, after which Salman Akram Raja and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and other participants advised the opposition leaders to increase contacts with the government.

It has been decided that Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas will contact important government figures during Ramadan in light of the alliance’s decisions and take the negotiation process forward.

The leaders have made it clear that they are political people and believe in finding solutions to problems through dialogue so that confrontation with institutions ends.

PTI leaders Junaid Akbar and Atif Khan have made the negotiations conditional on the improvement of the environment and said that if the government corrects its attitude and provides political space, they are ready for talks. They are of the view that measures like FIRs and revenge attacks in Punjab are obstacles to the negotiation process. If the government takes one step forward to normalize the situation, the opposition will take two steps forward.

The opposition alliance has officially authorized Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas to hold talks and will soon present its position to the public after government contacts.
