Political tensions in Islamabad have escalated as opposition parties continue their protest sit-ins at Parliament House and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House along with parliament lodgues.

Opposition members of parliament have vowed to maintain their demonstration until their demands are met.

Several opposition leaders are present inside Parliament House, including Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Raja Nasir Abbas, and Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, along with other lawmakers.

The leaders say the sit-in will continue until the government responds positively to their demands.

Addressing the protest, Achakzai alleged that more than 100 members of parliament were being held captive at the venue.

He said the opposition was not issuing threats but would persist with the sit-in regardless of whether the government initiates contact.

He warned that if their demands remain unmet, the protest will continue even during Ramadan, adding that participants would observe fasting and offer Tarawih prayers at the protest site.

Achakzai further stated that, in his capacity as opposition leader, he had written to the prime minister proposing a panel of three doctors, but claimed no action had been taken on the request.
