NEW YORK: OpenAI, the tech firm behind the revolutionary AI chatbot ChatGPT, is said to be working on a new social media app that can compete with apps such as TikTok.
OpenAI is working on a new social media application that will be released along with its revised video generation model, Sora 2, Wired reports. The application is reported to have a very similar functionality to TikTok, including the use of a vertical video feed with scrollable content from top to bottom.
But unlike the conventional social sites, this app will be occupied solely with AI-created content. The users won’t be permitted to upload pictures or videos from the phone library everything will be produced through OpenAI’s AI resources, mainly the Sora 2 model.
The report mentions that, inside the app, Sora 2 will only be able to create 10-second video clips at least to start with. It is still not certain if longer videos can be created outside the app with Sora 2.
On release, the app will also come with an identity verification feature. The feature will enable users to verify if equivalent videos are already present, making it easier to spot duplicated or AI-generated content.
This entry is a turning point for OpenAI’s direction as it ventures away from AI software into mainstream social media, possibly redefining how digital content is produced and viewed.
