KARACHI: Reiterating his commitment to make Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) a profitable airline, renowned businessman Arif Habib has said that he has a clear message to the employees that only those who perform will remain in PIA.
Talking to the media on the occasion of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Inter-Schools Final in Naya Nazimabad, Arif Habib said that making PIA a profitable airline is the top priority. PIA employees will be protected because PIA became the world’s number two successful airline because of its employees.
He said that the employees have a clear message that the future of their jobs will depend on their performance, and those who show performance will remain in PIA. He said that 14 million Pakistanis live abroad, the number of overseas Pakistanis and their families in Pakistan is more than 70 million, and 70 million Pakistanis use the airline.
He said that efforts will be made to ensure that Pakistanis travel only through PIA PIA has priority for Hajj and Umrah. Arif Habib said that, like Naya Nazimabad, PIA also prioritizes promoting sports, and it will take time to restore sports in PIA. He said that PCB’s selection of Naya Nazimabad for school cricket is welcome, as Naya Nazimabad has facilities for cricket, badminton, swimming, table tennis, football, and other sports.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who was chief guest of the Inter-Schools Final, distributed the prizes. Pakistan Cricket Team Test Captain Shan Masood was also present on the occasion.
