PESHAWAR: The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has ordered the provincial department to complete the printing of more than 117,000 driving license cards that were pending.
The Transport Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has prepared a schedule for the printing of driving license cards according to districts. As per the announcement, the concerned departments have been ordered to deliver the cards on time as per the decided dates.
The processing of driving license cards in the Hazara Division is scheduled to be done in the very first week of January 2026. The licenses are expected to be transferred to Malakand Division’s Swat, Dir, and Buner by around the middle of 2026 January. Mardan Division and Dera Ismail Khan Division will also wrap up the license distribution process by January 30, 2026.
Kohat Division is foreseen to have the issuance of driving licenses completed by the end of January 29, 2026, while Bannu Division will have the issuance done by January 30, 2026. The certificates are meanwhile going to be distributed in Mardan and Dera Ismail Khan Divisions as well by January 30, 2026.
Sohail Afridi, the Chief Minister, reiterated that the government’s commitment to the provision of public services is unflinching and any oversight in the performance of these tasks will be severely dealt with.

Peshawar’s unusual theft incidents: Electric wires and meters no longer safe
On December 30, Peshawar’s theft incidents have come to an unexpected turn as now the unknown thieves are not only stealing electric wires but also taking the electricity and gas meters from the houses and streets. These surprising crimes have made the people very worried and scared.
According to reports, a theft involving the stealing of electric wires was reported in the jurisdiction of Pahari Pura police station. Additionally, reports suggest that unknown individuals have stolen electricity and gas meters in the Waliabad area of Pishtkhera.
The public thinks that these thefts are not mere common criminals’ acts but rather the involvement of highly skilled or retired staff from the relevant departments due to the sophistication and artfulness that the thieves showed in the thefts.
The public says that the thieves do their jobs like professionals working with extreme precision and cleanliness, thus not leaving any obvious damage behind. It has raised suspicion; many are asking if the utility systems involved have an inside connection or if they have been notified.
However, at the same time, the police are still worried about these cases of unique thefts. Insider reports said that they have stepped up patrols in certain areas and are keeping a close watch on suspicious characters. Still, there are no good leads.
The residents have cried out for the higher authorities to act right away to stop notorious Thieves’ operations, capture the criminals, and introduce precautionary measures, making citizens’ and property’s safety a priority.
