A significant increase in the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been recorded in the country, after which there is a fear of further inflation burden on domestic consumers and small businesses as the prices of LPG have increased by 70 to 100 rupees per kg.

According to the head of the LPG Marketing Association, the retail price of LPG in the market has increased from 250 rupees per kg to 320 to 350 rupees per kg. He says that the main reason for the sudden increase in prices is the global situation and shortage of supply.

The Marketing Association says that after the ongoing war in Iran, the supply of LPG in the region has been affected, due to which a trend of continuous increase in prices is being seen. There is a fear that the availability of LPG in the market will also be affected due to the shortage of supply.

According to the association, the government should take steps to import LPG from alternative sources to meet the growing demand. In this regard, arrangements can be made for the supply of LPG from Russia and Oman to restore supply in the country and stabilize prices.

Experts say that if timely measures are not taken, LPG prices may increase further in the coming days, which may cause severe financial pressure on domestic consumers, hotels, restaurants and other business sectors.
