The Anti-Terrorism Court Islamabad has made major progress in the Judicial Complex attack case and issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser and other absent accused.
According to a private TV channel, the case was heard by Judge Tahir Abbas Supra of the Anti-Terrorism Court, in which the court took action in absentia and ordered the issuance of arrest warrants. The court said that this decision was taken after the accused did not appear despite repeated summons.
During the hearing, applications for exemption from attendance were filed by former Chief Minister of Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Senator Shibli Faraz and Asad Umar, which the court approved and exempted them from the current hearing.
The court has fixed October 06 for further hearing of the case, when the presence of the remaining accused and the progress of the case will be reviewed again.
The case relates to the attack on the Islamabad Judicial Complex, in which serious charges such as terrorism, vandalism and breach of public order have been registered against several political leaders.
