Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, stated that Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), would not be transferred to another jail.
Rana Sanaullah explained that there were no objections to PTI leaders holding meetings, as long as they remained limited in scope. He emphasized that while Imran Khan had long accused others of corruption and criminality, he was now facing accountability himself.
Earlier this month, the adviser noted that the government might consider transferring Imran Khan to another prison if protests outside Adiala Jail continued to disrupt public life and became a regular occurrence. Sanaullah further remarked that both PTI as a political party and Imran Khan individually had repeatedly criticized state institutions, which he deemed unacceptable to the public.
He alleged that, despite India being an enemy state, Imran Khan had echoed what he referred to as its propaganda.
Sanaullah urged PTI supporters to maintain law and order and warned that if protests outside Adiala Jail were held regularly every Tuesday and Thursday, the government might be compelled to reconsider Khan’s incarceration.
He also stated that PTI and its founder must dissociate themselves from the events of May 9, withdraw previous statements, and offer an apology. He added that only under these conditions could the current political impasse be resolved; otherwise, the stalemate would continue.
