Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Provincial President Junaid Akbar said that no one could stop the elections of new Chief Minister and if the opposition could stop the election of the Chief Minister, then they should come to Peshawar High Court.
Talking to media persons in Peshawar High Court, he said that today they will elect the Chief Minister for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the constitution has not authorized the Governor to reject or object to the resignation of the Chief Minister. He said that the PTI legal team is ready, and consultations were also held with them, and they were taking the constitutional route. The Chief Minister has resigned and has also announced it publicly through a video message.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Barrister Ali Zafar said that if any petition was filed by the opposition, he would appear personally. “If the opposition wants to stop the election, we will not let it happen”, Ali Zafar said. Ali Zafar said that according to the constitution, when the Chief Minister resigns, he resigns, and it is not written anywhere in the constitution that if the Governor accepts the resignation, the Chief Minister will resign. The election of the new Chief Minister will be held today. The Chief Minister will be elected in an hour and a half, Ali Zafar.
