PESHAWAR: Newly elected Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, said in his first speech to the provincial assembly that military operation is not the solution to any problem, and he would not allow any military operation during his reign.
He said that military operations are not the solution to any problem, Imran Khan is against the operation, no military operation will be able to be carried out while we are there, decisions have been made in closed rooms till date, the elders should be taken into confidence and the Afghan policy has to be reviewed, during Imran Khan’s tenure, there was no problem with Afghanistan, Afghans are being pushed out after 40 years.
“I am very grateful to our leader Imran Khan, who allowed a worker like me from the lower and middle class, not Bhutto, Zardari or Sharif, with my name, I reached here with my own arm, I did not become the Chief Minister by taking a slip,” he remarked.
“I am first and foremost a Pakistani, I am proud to be a tribal, when I was nominated, I was ridiculed because of my tribalism, I have made up my mind that tribes are always destined to die, my leader Imran Khan was aware of the condition of the tribes, the tribal people are very happy with his decision” he said.
“I am a champion of protest politics, and I have nothing to lose. We will start efforts for the release of Imran Khan from today itself. If Imran Khan is transferred from jail to somewhere without our consultation, the whole of Pakistan will be jammed,” he maintained.
The newly elected Chief Minister said that he thanked his party leadership, senators, and all the officials, terming PTI’s social media as Pakistan’s ‘biggest establishment’ and Arshad Sharif as ‘the biggest martyr’, and thanked them. He also paid tribute to former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for resigning at the behest of Imran Khan.
