PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Monday announced an increase in the building structure approval fee and declared it mandatory.
The fee for approval or regularisation of building plans for residential buildings has been increased to Rs 10 per square foot, while the fee for commercial buildings has been set at Rs 20 per square foot. All previous notifications regarding these fees have been cancelled.
Additionally, the commercial land use fee has been established at Rs 10,000 for residential land use, Rs 2,000 for housing commissions, and Rs 100,000 for housing schemes. A new notification has been issued imposing a commercial tax on residential houses rented out as offices.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Building Control Authority has approved the regularisation fees for building plans. According to the new notification, the approval or regularisation fee for residential buildings is now fixed at Rs 10 per square foot, and for commercial buildings, it is Rs 20 per square foot. The land use fee has been set at Rs 2,000, with the commercial land use fee at Rs 10,000, while land use for housing schemes is fixed at Rs 100,000.
It is important to note that all fees must be deposited according to the prescribed procedures, and no services will be provided without full payment. This notification is effective immediately.
Meanwhile, the Excise Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has intensified efforts to increase revenue, which includes a decision to levy a commercial tax on residential houses rented out for office use. The Finance Department has begun collecting data on such units in residential areas of Peshawar.
