UPPER DIR: At least nine shops full of different items and three vehicles were reduced to ashes when a huge fire broke out in the early morning at Katir Bazaar in the Dogadara area on Monday.

Local sources said that the reason for the fire is not exactly known, as due to the early morning, no one was present at the scene. Sources added that the shops were full of clothes and other items when this unpleasant incident happened.

A short circuit may be one of the reasons for this huge fire, as sometimes outdated electric wires also catch fire due to a short circuit. Later, local rescue teams rushed to the site and started throwing water over the fire to extinguish it.

After hours-long efforts, the local people of the area succeeded in extinguishing the fire, which restricted the damage to other shops in the area. The total losses due to damage to shops will yet to be determined; however, it is said that properties worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes as a result of this mishap.
