PESHAWAR: The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) have announced the closure of major motorways across the country as a step to counter the very poor visibility due to the fog. Furthermore, the NHMP has warned drivers about the unsafe driving conditions and is advising people to stay home unless they have to travel for an important reason.
Peshawar Main Toll Plaza (Kilometre 498) to Rashakai Interchange where the M-1 motorway is located, has been closed by NHMP because of the thick fog which made Monday night the roads dangerous.
An NHMP spokesperson said that visibility was so minor that it was a matter of life and death for the drivers to move on these roads. Non-vital journeys by motorists have been discouraged.
The following motorways are currently shut down because of the extremely thick fog:
M-1: From Peshawar Main Toll Plaza to Rashakai Interchange.
M-2: Sections between Thokar Niaz Baig and Hiran Minar.
M-3: From Faisalabad to Jaranwala.
M-4: Multan to Shorkot.
M-11: Lahore to Sialkot.
دُھند کے باعث (موجودہ صورتحال):

The NHMP has released a notice cautioning all motorists that in the event of foggy conditions, higher precautions must be taken, besides the use of fog lights, the speed limit should be lowered, and the distance from other vehicles should be properly safe. The public safety is still the number one concern, and the commuters are encouraged to keep themselves updated on the situation with the roads and not to take trips when not really necessary in these hard weather conditions.
