PESHAWAR: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has declared that the M1 Peshawar-Islamabad motorway from Peshawar to Burhan, among other significant roads is still impassable because of heavy fog. The haze has considerably lowered the visibility and thus made the journey very risky for travellers.

The following major motorways are currently closed due to dense fog:

M-1: The stretch from Burhan to Peshawar is closed.

M-2: The route from Thokar Niaz Baig to Chakri Interchange remains shut.

M-3: The section from Faizpur to Dera Khana is inaccessible.

M-4: Pindi Bhattian to Shershah remains closed.

M-5: The road from Rohri to Multan is currently blocked.

M-14: The stretch from Tirap to Isa Khel is closed for traffic.

Swat Expressway: The highway between Colonel Sher Khan Interchange and Katlang is no more in use.

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have cautioned motorists to avoid the blocked highways and keep themselves informed through the authorized channels. The thick fog covering a large area of the country is still likely to cause traffic to be stuck for many more hours.

Drivers are reminded to be very careful while driving on the open roads and, furthermore, they should wait until the situation returns to normal before making any trips. Accidents resulting from the low visibility will be dealt with as emergency teams have been dispatched to rescue the stuck drivers and clear the road.

The weather pattern has triggered a seasonal reminder of the difficulties that affect road safety in the area.
