New Zealand defeated Afghanistan by five wickets in the fourth group match of the ICC T20 World Cup, which took place in Chennai.

Afghanistan’s captain, Rashid Khan, won the toss and chose to bat first. The team posted a competitive total of 182 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Gulbadin Naib was the standout performer, scoring an impressive 63 runs off 35 balls. Sediqullah Atal contributed 29 runs, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz added 27.

Other notable contributions included Darwish Rasooli with 20 runs, Ibrahim Zadran with 10, and Azmatullah Omarzai with 14. Mohammad Nabi remained unbeaten with 10 runs.

For New Zealand, Lockie Ferguson was the most effective bowler, taking two wickets. Matt Henry, Jacob Duffy, and Rachin Ravindra each claimed one wicket.

In the chase, New Zealand successfully reached the target, securing a five-wicket victory. Mitchell Santner led the Kiwi side during the match.
