ISLAMABAD: In a relief move for the public ahead of the New Year 2026, the federal government on Wednesday announced a major reduction in the prices of petroleum products.
According to an official notification issued by the petroleum division, the price of petrol has been cut by Rs 10.28 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs 8.57 per litre.
The revised prices will come into effect immediately and are expected to provide relief to consumers amid rising inflationary pressures and increased transportation costs.
Government officials described the price cut as a New Year’s gift for the people, stating that the decision was taken in line with changing trends in the international oil market and domestic economic conditions.
The reduction is likely to have a positive impact on transport fares and the cost of essential goods in the coming days.
