PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to implement new working hours for restaurants, wedding halls, and markets throughout the province.
According to the new orders, markets in divisional headquarters will close at 9 PM, while markets in other districts must close by 8 PM. Restaurants and cafes are required to close by 10 PM, although home delivery services will still be allowed. Additionally, wedding and event halls must conclude all events by 10 PM.
The new regulations also prohibit unnecessary lighting, including floodlights and decorative lights. Billboards and LED screens must be turned off after shops close. The use of generators for non-essential commercial activities is banned as well. These orders will take effect on April 6, 2026.
All deputy commissioners have been instructed to enforce this decision strictly. However, hospitals, pharmacies, petrol pumps, and tandoors are exempt from this ban.
