PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch the Ehsas Fuel Support Scheme for commercial vehicles, aiming to provide relief to transporters in the wake of rising fuel prices.

The initiative comes amid a significant increase in petroleum prices following escalating tensions involving Iran, prompting both federal and provincial governments to introduce fuel relief measures for various segments, ranging from motorcyclists to public transport operators.

According to the provincial transport department, the scheme will offer monthly fuel subsidies to owners of commercial vehicles, including buses, trucks and vans.

Under the programme, buses will receive a monthly subsidy of Rs100,000, while larger commercial vehicles will be given Rs80,000. Truck owners will be entitled to Rs70,000 per month, whereas mini-buses and vans will receive Rs40,000 and Rs35,000, respectively.

Officials said the application process for the scheme has been made fully digital to ensure transparency and ease of access for applicants.

The move is expected to ease the financial burden on transporters and help stabilise public transport fares across the province.
