ISLAMABAD: A strong westerly weather system is forecast to affect the upper catchments of all major rivers, along with Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP), between Sunday and Tuesday.
According to an alert issued by the NDMA’s National Emergencies Operations Center, the system may bring moderate rainfall, with chances of isolated heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and strong winds across various regions.
Heavy rainfall in the upper catchment of the River Jhelum could trigger medium to high flows, while moderate to heavy showers in the Ravi and Sutlej catchments may raise levels in the eastern rivers, potentially causing medium flooding in vulnerable areas. Flows in the western tributaries of the Swat, Panjkora, and Kabul rivers are also expected to increase.
