The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC ) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a high alert regarding the possible weather conditions across the country.

According to the NDMA, the current weather conditions are exactly in line with the forecast issued by the organization in January, while a detailed review from April to June is also being issued.

Thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected in the districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Swat, Chitral, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Mardan and DI Khan. On the other hand, the weather will remain hot and dry in Sindh and Balochistan, where temperatures are likely to rise.

The NDMA has warned that strong winds, lightning and hailstorms can damage weak structures, trees and power lines, while there is also a risk of landslides in mountainous areas due to continuous rains.

The NDMA has urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel, drive carefully and stay away from power installations and weak buildings during the storm.

Tourists have been directed to check the road conditions before heading to the northern areas and use the NDMA’s official app ‘Pak NDMA Disaster Alert’ for timely information.
