ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Sunday lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi over alleged derogatory remarks regarding mosques and state institutions.

According to the FIR copy available with Pakhtun Digital, NCCIA filed the FIR following the conclusion of enquiry No. 2287/2025, conducted by the Cyber Crime Reporting Centre, Islamabad. It noted that the inquiry found that the accused, Muhammad Sohail, son of Muhammad Sattar, along with others, had “knowingly and deliberately” made and disseminated false, misleading, and derogatory statements against state institutions through social media platforms.

It said that the remarks, allegedly made during a media talk outside Adiala Jail, were described in the NCCIA report as “offensive, profane, false, and unfounded,” and aimed at maligning and defaming state institutions. The agency said in the FIR that statements were an attempt to “undermine public trust, incite hatred, create unrest, and destabilise national security.”

The FIR states that the accused was also involved in “preparing, publishing, sharing, and circulating fake and misleading content” with the intent to incite violence and promote anti-state sentiments.
