SYDNEY: Naveed Akram, a Sydney local of descent has firmly refuted any involvement in the recent Bondi Beach shooting and has revealed misinformation spreading on social media.
In a video message, Akram mentioned that certain media outlets and social media individuals circulated his image as the supposed gunman, without confirmation endangering him and his family significantly.
Addressing the camera directly, he explained that he is a resident of Sydney and stressed that every accusation made against him is entirely untrue and deceptive.
Akram urged both the public and the media not to trust propaganda blindly and to check the facts before making any accusations.
The event follows the terrible Sydney attack, where propaganda and false reports have been spread in the media of Israel, India, and Afghanistan. While Australian media were the first to refer to the attacker as Naveed Akram, some foreign outlets wrongly shared a picture of a young man named Sheikh Naveed, thus causing the spread of misinformation.
Jerusalem Post pushes anti-Pakistan narrative using fake LinkedIn Profile
The Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post, while propagating against Pakistan, shared the LinkedIn profile of one Naveed Akram, which was later found to be false and misleading.
According to sources, Naveed Akram targeted by the Jerusalem Post, had obtained an engineering degree in 2016.
In Pakistan, the average age of a student to obtain an engineering degree is 24 to 25 years.
If someone obtained a degree in 2016, then in 2025, he should be at least 35 to 37 years old and not look like a young man.
Further investigation revealed that the Naveed Akram about whom the Jerusalem Post was propagating against Pakistan actually has no connection to this attack.
His real Facebook page has also come to light where the person himself explained that he had nothing to do with this attack, the Naveed involved in the incident is an Afghan citizen and the caretaker is going to lose.
In the recent attack in Sydney, Australian authorities have identified the attacker as an Afghan national from Nangarhar, who migrated to Australia after 2021.
Following this confirmation by the authorities, the claim of the Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post, in which the attacker was described as a 24-year-old Pakistani national, has been proven false. According to the official investigation, the attacker has no connection to Pakistan.
The real side of the anti-Pakistan fabricated story published by the Jerusalem Post has come to light. According to the investigation, the post was actually by Sheikh Naveed.
Sheikh Naveed also updated his LinkedIn profile after his Facebook post, after which the truth of the Jerusalem Post’s allegation came to light.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of misinformation and propaganda in the global media and also clarified the need for verification before sharing news.
