PESHAWAR: After an increase in flour prices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the prices of Nan and bread further increased and reached to record high of Rs 40 for double Roti as compared to Rs 30, while the prices of single Roti reached Rs 20 instead of Rs 15.
Muhammad Iqbal Paindakhel, Provincial President of the Nanbai Association, told Pakhtun Digital that they have no option but will increase the Nan prices as the Deputy Commissioner had given them seven days for the smooth supply of wheat.
He said that now different rates are being run in Peshawar as some areas have reported a record increase in the prices of Nan, and it has been sold at Rs 40 for a double-sized Roti. He hoped that earlier the price of double Roti was 30 rupees, but in the last seven days these prices surged due to an increase in the price of flour.
The price of Nan is now charged at Rs 40 instead of Rs 30 in Peshawar and other parts of the province. The price of a single bread(Nan) is Rs 20 instead of Rs 15. Where bread was previously available for twenty rupees, now it is being sold for thirty, forty, or even fifty rupees.
The terrorism hit people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, not only confronted with severe unemployment, but are also facing a shortage of vital edibles. This shortage led to inflated prices of flour and other products. The poor people have appealed Prime Minister to play a role in the flour crisis and fix a subsidy for flour coming to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Punjab.
