PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Advisor, Muzzammil Aslam, on Thursday slammed the centre for the unjust distribution of federal revenues and termed that Punjab is a favourite of the centre in the fund share.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam strongly reacted to the details of revenues received by the provinces from the centre.

About the report, the KP Finance advisor said that Punjab province was the favourite in the distribution of federal revenues. He said Punjab had been given 16 per cent more revenues compared to the previous year.

Mr Aslam added that the centre should have increased the other provinces’ share to 16 per cent to ensure justice in the funds provisions.
He said that after Punjab, funds were increased to  Sindh, then to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The revenue report for the first three months of the current fiscal year has been released, which has revealed the details of the share given to the provinces.
The KP Finance advisor said in a statement that Rs882 billion had been released to Punjab with an increase of 16 per cent.
While 441 billion rupees have been released to Sindh, with an increase of 13 per cent.
He further said that Rs287 billion had been released to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with an increase of 12 per cent.
Similarly, 164 billion rupees have been released to Balochistan with a shameful increase of only 5 per cent.
Due to terrorism and backwardness, the funds of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan should be increased.
But the federal government is showing mercy to the Punjab government.
Mr Aslam added that instead of this excess, the narrative was built that the Punjab government’s projects were more than others.
He said the narrative should be that Punjab was not developing according to the amount of funds being given to it, and the federal government should clarify this issue and adopt a balanced policy.
