PESHAWAR: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) on Thursday morning informed that the M-1 Peshawar-Islamabad has been reopened to traffic, offering relief to travellers after closures caused by thick fog.
However, M-4 and M-11 Motorways are still closed to traffic due to dense fog and will be reopened as visibility improves on the highway.
Earlier, the motorway was shut from the Peshawar Toll Plaza to the Rashakai interchange due to fog and reduced visibility, creating significant safety hazards. The NHMP highlighted that the shutdowns were carried out solely to avoid accidents and safeguard the lives and belongings of travellers.
NHMP reported that M-4 from Shahkot to Sher Shah and M11 from the main toll plaza to Sambrial are closed to traffic, while the rest of the motorways are open for all types of traffic.
