The federal government has taken a major decision to reduce the speed of vehicles on motorways and national highways across the country to save energy, under which the Motorway Police has issued a notification of the new speed limit.
According to the Motorway Police spokesperson, the speed of cars and LTV vehicles on motorways has now been reduced from 120 kilometers to 100 kilometers per hour, while the speed of PSV and HTV will be reduced from 110 to 90 kilometers per hour.
Similarly, the speed limit for cars and LTV vehicles on national highways has been reduced from 100 to 80 kilometers per hour, while for large vehicles, i.e., PSV and HTV, this limit has been reduced from 80 to 65 kilometers per hour.
It is to mentioned here that the decision has been taken in the larger national interest as the fuel shortage due to the blockade in the Strait of Harmuz have caused a wave of energy concern in the country, which has also inflated the prices of petroleum products.
The country’s oil reserves have significantly fallen amid the growing tension in the Middle East, where a large number of people have been migrating from Iran and Gulf countries.
