PESHAWAR: More than 107 cases of dengue have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the last 24 hours, taking the number of active dengue cases in the province to 241.

The Health Department report said that the total number of dengue cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year has reached 3,511. In the last 24 hours, 31 new dengue patients have been admitted to various hospitals, while 55 patients are currently under treatment in various hospitals in the province. The Health Department report further said that a total of 1,447 patients have been admitted to the hospital so far this year, out of which 3,268 people have recovered, and two patients have died due to dengue. The health department has appealed to the public to take special care of personal hygiene and immediately clean water-collecting areas to prevent mosquito breeding. In view of the current dengue situation, health authorities have completed all emergency arrangements in hospitals, and special teams have been deployed to treat patients.

It may be recalled here that on Thursday, a minor boy died after contracting high dengue fever, due to the alleged negligence of the doctors in the hospital. Health authorities are running an awareness campaign on how to protect themselves from the dengue virus, but people are not following the health department advisories, which results alarming increase in the disease.
