KARACHI: Former England cricketer Moeen Ali has declared his comeback to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) expressing his enthusiasm about joining the league.

Following the announcement of the PSL earlier this year the league is preparing to grow to eight teams by incorporating two additional franchises.

At the time Moeen, who took part in the marquee league earlier while playing for the former champions Multan Sultans during the 2020 and 2021 tournaments conveyed his enthusiasm to return to the league.

Moeen mentioned that the PSL since its inception in 2016 has “gained a reputation, for T20 cricket ” showcasing intense competition and skilled athletes.

“I’m thrilled to be part of HBL PSL as it enters its New Era. The league is known for T20 cricket featuring fierce competition and exceptional talent throughout all the teams ” Moeen posted on Instagram.

The 38-year-old, who played for England in 68 Tests, 138 ODIs and 92 T20Is throughout his career was also included in the Three Lions team that undertook its landmark tour of Pakistan in 2022 to contest a three-match Test series. In addition, Moeen has visited the country on occasions.

Looking back at his experiences in Pakistan Moeen mentioned that he relished playing there and particularly lauded the passionate audience stating that they motivate players to perform at their highest level, on the field.

“Competing in Pakistan is consistently amazing; the standard of cricket is exceptional and the enthusiasm and energy, from the spectators motivate you to perform at your peak ” he added.

Moeen’s​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ words were made public just a few days after another news came which is, Faf du Plessis, the former South African captain had declared that he is out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and that he will be playing in the next PSL season only.

On his Instagram handle, the famous cricketer made this public on the 29th of November that he will be abstaining from the IPL auction this ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌year.

“It’s a major decision and one that I make with a lot of thanks when I reflect on it,” he said in his ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌post.
