There is a strong concern across the country over the alleged hateful and conspiratorial narrative against Pakistan by Pakistani anchorperson and analyst Moeed Pirzada on international and especially Indian media platforms.
According to recent reports, Moeed Pirzada has directly targeted Pakistan’s state institutions, army and judiciary in interviews given to Indian TV channels and in his digital programs, which has been termed by public and political circles as akin to strengthening the agenda of the enemy country. He is being accused of harming Pakistan’s internal security and strategic interests as part of a well-planned campaign from abroad and his statements are being used as a weapon by the Indian media to defame Pakistan globally.
There is a lot of public outrage that a Pakistani journalist has chosen Indian platforms, which have historically been at the forefront of propaganda against Pakistan, instead of addressing the internal affairs of his country.
Social media users say that Moeed Pirzada’s behavior has crossed the boundaries of journalistic ethics and is downright anti-national. Legal experts say that inciting rebellion against the state from abroad and making institutions controversial through false information can lead to serious legal consequences.
At a time when Pakistan is trying to deal with regional and economic challenges, Moeed Pirzada’s campaign is being considered part of a hybrid warfare against Pakistan aimed at creating a rift between the people and the institutions. There is a growing demand for the government and relevant institutions to take immediate notice of such activities so that the country’s prestige is not tarnished.
