ISLAMABAD: Sarfraz Ahmed, the former national captain and mentor, took to Instagram and posted a story that went viral, he was celebrating the win after Pakistan’s tremendous victory over India in the U-19 Asia Cup final.

The final match, played on Sunday in Dubai, under the auspices of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), was one-sided as Pakistan outclassed India by a huge margin of 191 runs with a great innings of Sameer Munhas. This triumph made Pakistan the holder of the U19 Asia Cup trophy.

The cricket team of U19 that returned after winning met the country’s PM, Shehbaz Sharif, and the Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, subsequently.

Sarfraz Ahmed on Tuesday posted a picture on Instagram wherein he is shaking hands with the Field Marshal, and the caption said:

“Assalam-o-Alaikum Sir, Sarfraz Ahmed reporting, mission accomplished.”

The Instagram story became an instant hit on social media and received the accolades of the fans for both the team’s performance and Sarfraz Ahmed’s humorous and jubilant post.

U-19 cricket stars meet COAS & CDF, receive praise for Asia Cup triumph

Earlier, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, COAS & CDF, met the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, on Monday.

During the meeting, the Field Marshal warmly congratulated the players, team management, and officials on their outstanding performance and historic triumph in winning the Asia Cup Men’s U-19. He lauded the team’s discipline, teamwork, and fighting spirit, terming their success a matter of great pride for the nation.

The Field Marshal appreciated the dedication and hard work of the young cricketers, emphasising that their achievement reflects the immense talent and potential of Pakistan’s youth. He encouraged the players to continue striving for excellence, maintain high standards of professionalism, and serve as ambassadors of the country on and off the field.

The Field Marshal underscored that Pakistan’s youth are the cornerstone of the nation’s future, whose energy, talent, and character will shape its progress and global standing. He reaffirmed his unwavering belief in empowering young Pakistanis to excel in diverse fields and contribute positively to national development through discipline, integrity, and dedication.

Members of the U-19 team expressed their gratitude to the Field Marshal for his encouragement and support, stating that the recognition is a source of motivation for them.
