Director General ISPR Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that enemy spread false propaganda about Pakistan Army regarding border management, although the Pak-Afghan border is one of the most difficult border areas in the world
DG ISPR Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry while talking to senior journalists said that the border fence cannot be fully effective until it gets strong observation and fire cover. He said that we have no problem with Afghans, our problem is with the Afghan Taliban regime.
Pakistan Army spokesperson presented important facts regarding the country’s security situation, border management, the behavior of the Afghan Taliban and India’s provocations. He said that Pakistan has carried out indiscriminate operations against terrorism and the enemy networks have been largely disrupted in these operations.
According to the DG ISPR, 4910 intelligence-based operations have been conducted since November 4, in which 206 terrorists have been killed. He said that a total of 67,023 operations has been conducted this year, 12,857 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 53,309 in Balochistan. So far, 1873 terrorists have been killed in these operations, of which 136 are from Afghanistan.
He said that the border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is spread over 1229 km with 20 crossing points, and at many places the border posts are 20 to 25 km apart.
The DG ISPR said that the border fence could not be fully effective unless it has strong observation and fire cover. Drone surveillance and fort-like posts also require a lot of resources. In many areas, villages are divided on both sides, which makes it more difficult to control traffic.
He said that in the world, border management is always done by both countries together, but there is no effective administrative structure in Afghanistan.
The DG ISPR said that the Taliban regime provides facilities to terrorists, while in the border areas across the border there is a strong nexus of “political terror crime”, which is facilitated by Fitna-ul-Khawarij. Due to this, smuggling, illegal trade, terrorism are promoted.
The DG ISPR said that terrorist formations come from across the border, cross-border smuggling and illegal trade within the country is a big challenge. Without naming the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, he said that millions of non-custom paid vehicles are roaming in your province, whose job is it to stop non-custom paid vehicles?
He said that diesel smuggling from Iran is a major funding source for terrorism. Earlier, 20.5 million liters of diesel were smuggled daily, after the crackdown, this amount has reduced to 2.7 million liters. This money went to Indian-backed groups like the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Baloch Yakjahti Committee (BYC).
He said that 27 districts of Balochistan have now been brought under the jurisdiction of the police, which constitutes about 86 percent of the province. Security agencies are working with the local people to restore peace.
The DG ISPR took a categorical stance and said that Pakistan’s position on the Doha agreement with Afghanistan is very clear. The Afghan Taliban had promised that they would not allow Afghan soil to be used against any country, but they could not keep their promises. The leadership of Al-Qaeda, ISIS and other terrorist organizations are still present in Afghanistan and they also get weapons and funding from there, which is used against Pakistan.
According to the Pakistan Army spokesperson, Pakistan also provided concrete evidence to the Afghan Taliban, but these evidences were ignored.
DG ISPR said that the Afghan Taliban should sign an agreement under a verifiable mechanism. If the verifiable mechanism is to be set up by a third party, we have no objection. The mediator countries are also fully aware of Pakistan’s position.
He said that “if the Taliban claims that the terrorists of Fitna al-Khawarij are Pakistanis, it was said that they have migrated and are our guests. If they are Pakistani citizens, hand them over to us, we will deal with them according to our law. How are they “guests” how they come to Pakistan armed?”
He said that according to report, the US left behind weapons worth 7.2 billion dollars, the Afghan regime has become a threat to the entire region and the world. A state and government should have been established in Afghanistan after 2021, but even today, non-state elements are being nurtured there, who have become a threat to the entire region.
The spokesperson of the Pakistan Army said that the Afghan Taliban regime is not representative of Afghans, the Afghan Taliban regime does not represent all nationalities, 50 percent of Afghan women have no existence in this regime.
DG ISPR said that we have no problem with Afghans, our problem is with the Afghan Taliban regime.
