NOWSHERA: Awami National Party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Mian Iftikhar Hussain stressed the immediate opening of the Pak-Afghan border for trade and movement and said that for the first time in history, Pakistan is holding dialogue with Afghanistan through third-party mediators.

He said that due to the closure of the border, families, businessmen, and students are suffering badly. At the same time, trade and economic activities were severely affected in both countries.

Awami National Party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Mian Iftikhar Hussain has slammed the provincial and federal governments over the current situation in the Tirah valley. He alleged that the government is adopting a “double policy” on the Tirah issue, which is causing severe hardship to the people of the area.

Mian Iftikhar Hussain revealed that on one hand, the government claims that it does not want to carry out any new operation, but on the other hand, the locals of Tirah have been given a deadline of February 10 to vacate the area. He raised the question that if there is no operation, then why are the people being displaced?

He said that whenever it comes to operations, only Pakhtuns are displaced from their homes. Pakhtuns have made the most sacrifices in the war against terrorism, but still, their resources and lives are being put at risk.

Referring to the past, he said that earlier direct negotiations were held with Afghanistan, but now this process is being conducted through mediators, which is not proving effective.

Government incompetence: Mian Iftikhar Hussain criticized the provincial government and said that every district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is in the grip of unrest, and the government has completely failed to fulfill its basic responsibility of establishing law and order.
