PESHAWAR: The Meteorological Department predicted heavy rain and snowfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Balochistan from today until February 3.

The Meteorological Department has announced that another western weather system is entering northern Balochistan from Iran, which is likely to bring rain and snowfall to various areas. Rain is expected in the plains of Balochistan, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while snowfall is anticipated in the mountainous regions.

Additionally, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has raised concerns about the risk of avalanches and landslides in the mountainous regions, given the forecast of rain and snowfall in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from today until February 4.

Snowfall is expected to create slippery conditions in the following areas from February 1st to 3rd: Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, and Haveli. Additionally, slippery conditions are anticipated in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Nokundi, Harnai, and Zhob.

There is also a possibility of landslides and avalanches in the hilly areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir during this time.

Tourists are advised to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel throughout the forecast period. Daytime temperatures are expected to drop during this time.
