Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s Advisor on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has stated that any meeting with Imran Khan should be conducted in accordance with the law.
Rana Sanaullah said that founder of Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf Imran Khan should be allowed a meeting party leaders and family members, but after meeting with him it should not be followed by a prolonged press conference.
After a three-hour meeting, there should not be a one-and-a-half-hour press briefing, he added.
He emphasized that discussions promoting protests, marches toward Islamabad, or similar agitations should not take place.
No law allows anyone to run a political campaign from inside jail. There is no permission to meet the PTI founder and then hold hours-long press conferences outside, he said.
Rana Sanaullah further pointed out that on November 26, the PTI founder had already called for a protest.
The court’s permission allows the meeting, but politics should not be conducted during it. He drew a comparison to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, stating that when he traveled to London, it was done with the approval of the cabinet, not by breaking jail rules.
Prime Minister’s Adviser Senator Rana Sanaullah has announced that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is presently detained at Adiala Jail, where he’s in good health secure and provided with all required amenities.
Speaking during a talk show on SAMAA TV, Rana Sanaullah mentioned that Pakistani legislation permits detainees to meet with their lawyers and relatives. No law authorizes any prisoner to lead a movement against the government from within prison. He further stated that if limitations were imposed on visits, with the PTI founder “it was probably a decision taken by the prison officials.”
