Following the directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, a high-level medical board conducted a comprehensive health assessment of PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.
This development comes amid growing concerns regarding the former Prime Minister’s eyesight and overall well-being.
The medical team focused primarily on a reported vision loss in Mr. Khan’s right eye. Sources indicate a diagnosis of Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (CRVO).
The PTI founder previously claimed that his vision in the affected eye has dropped to approximately 15%. A team of five senior specialists (including ophthalmologists from PIMS and Holy Family Hospital) spent over an hour conducting tests. An ambulance equipped with advanced eye-examination machinery was brought inside the jail premises via Gate 5.
The preliminary report includes a detailed chart of Mr. Khan’s blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, and glucose levels. The initial medical findings have been officially dispatched to the Punjab Home Department.
Despite the medical board’s visit, the process has sparked a heated row between the government and the opposition.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf categorically rejects the medical examination conducted in the absence of the founder’s personal physicians and family members. Such inspections are deemed malicious and lack transparency.
The Supreme Court had set a deadline of February 16 for the submission of this medical report and for facilitating a telephonic conversation between Mr. Khan and his sons.
The Punjab government is expected to review the board’s recommendations today to decide whether a hospital transfer is necessary.
