MANSHERA: The Mansehra District Police Officer (DPO), Shafiullah Gandapur, has clarified that no official restriction has been placed on the entry of unmarried couples or tourists to Naran. DPO termed the viral social media posts as fake and attempted to impact the region’s tourism.
DPO Mansehra, Mr Gandapur, stated that rumours circulating on Social Media about a ban on unmarried couples’ entry to the tourist hotspot Naran and the alleged requirement of a Nikah Nama (marriage certificate) are baseless and misleading the public.
“There is no such directive issued by me or my department. Our focus is on maintaining law and order, and ensuring the safety and security of all tourists regardless of their marital status,” he explained in an official page post.
DPO Mansehra said that the police were committed to promoting tourism in the region and that any misinformation could harm the local economy and visitor experience.
Mansehra police chief issued the clarification after several social media posts alleged that couples were being stopped at entry points and asked to show proof of marriage, sparking public outcry and debate.
DPO Gandapur urged the public to verify information from official and credible sources and avoid spreading fake information.
