ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has announced an important update to improve public services by extending the working days of passport offices to five days a week.
Effective immediately, all field offices and passport facilities will now operate from Monday to Friday. This change aims to provide smoother services for citizens applying for or renewing their passports.
Previously, working days were reduced to four due to rising tensions in the Middle East and an energy-saving initiative outlined in Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s austerity plan. During that time, 50% of the staff were required to work from home. However, this decision has been reversed, allowing passport offices to resume their normal schedule and minimize inconvenience for applicants.
According to the Passport Department, every Pakistani citizen has the right to obtain a passport, which serves as a legal document offering protection through Pakistani embassies during their time abroad.
