ISLAMABAD: Significant measures have been implemented to address the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party’s confrontational and non-political strategy within parliamentary proceedings.

Important steps have been taken to manage PTI’s aggressive behavior within the parliamentary chambers. Members who use abusive language against the state and its institutions, surround the Speaker’s dais, or engage in unruly behavior will face suspension from their memberships.

Both the Chairman of the Senate and the Speaker of the National Assembly will enforce strict measures to uphold the integrity of the two houses. Action will be taken against PTI members who deliver speeches attacking state institutions, encircle the dais, use foul language, or display images of their party founder in the House.

Acting Senate Chairman Syedal Khan will send a formal letter to PTI’s parliamentary leader on Monday or Tuesday. Syedal Khan Nasir will instruct PTI to ensure compliance with the existing ruling in the House. PTI will also receive a warning about potential consequences for its undemocratic and unlawful conduct. Members will be directed to refrain from obstructing the House proceedings.

The intolerable attitude of PTI towards the state and its institutions must end, the Acting Senate Chairman declared. He emphasized that his ruling is based on constitutional and legal requirements, rather than political motives.

In accordance with my ruling, I will formally communicate with PTI’s parliamentary leader, Syedal Khan Nasir said, noting that a copy of the letter will also be sent to all parliamentary leaders.

No one will be permitted to attack institutions or incite controversy and chaos, he asserted firmly. We will strictly implement the ruling there will be no concessions. He warned that while tolerance has been shown in the past, any future violations will lead to the suspension of senators’ memberships. Repeated infractions could result in long-term suspension.
