Hair loss has become a common problem worldwide, especially in men, it is not only a visible but also a cause of psychological stress.

A new study claims that a major and overlooked cause of male pattern baldness may be poor gut health. The study, conducted by Indian health organization ‘Triya Health’, reviewed self-reported health data of more than 160,000 men from 10 regions of India between December 2024 and December 2025.

The study included Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, Telangana, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.

The study results showed that fewer men reported better digestive health in 2025 compared to the previous year, while bowel health deteriorated more rapidly in urban and busy areas. According to the data, Telangana saw the highest decline, followed by Rajasthan and Delhi NCR.

According to the study, modern lifestyle is the main reason for this trend, which includes eating more than usual, fast and processed food, irregular mealtimes, lack of water and mental stress.

The intestines absorb protein, iron, zinc and vitamin B in the body, which are essential for hair growth. Due to the digestive system being affected, nutrients cannot reach the hair roots. Intestinal disorders cause constant inflammation in the body, which leads to premature hair loss.

According to experts, hair loss is not just a beauty problem but can also be an early sign of internal problems in the body. The study emphasizes that along with hair treatment, it is also important to pay attention to intestinal health, nutrition, hormones and mental stress.
