‎PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has taken very strict steps regarding the security and internal discipline of the Chief Minister’s House and has immediately dismissed the entire Special Branch team deployed there.

This sudden decision has created a stir in the provincial administration and police circles.

‎According to sources, this action was taken when complaints were received that sensitive information of the Chief Minister’s House and details of internal meetings were continuously reaching the media and other unrelated circles. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi took strict notice of these “leaks” and ordered immediate changes in the security structure.

‎All the existing Special Branch personnel have been directed to report back to their units.

‎The responsibility of security has now been handed over to the Frontier Reserve Police (FRP).

‎53 selected and fresh personnel of the FRP have been posted at the Chief Minister’s House and have assumed their responsibilities.

‎The administration maintains that this change has been made to ensure the security of the Chief Minister’s House and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive matters. Under the new security protocols, a close watch will now be kept on every visitor and monitoring of internal staff has also been tightened.

‎This move comes at a time when the Sohail Afridi government is striving for administrative reforms and reorganization of security agencies in the province.
