TOKYO: A 32-year-old Japanese woman named Yuzina Nog has caught the public eye by marrying an AI partner which she herself had created. The marriage has caused a lot of hype and made people from different fields including technology, emotional bond, and personal relationships to mingle together.
As reported by the media, Yuzina’s AI partner was created through chatbot technology. The wedding was remarkable, in which the bride went for a white dress and augmented reality glasses, while the ceremony itself was quite traditional. The groom, already invited, was nothing more than a virtual being projected onto a monitor.
Despite the non-legal character of such unions in Japan, Yuzina expressed that she had a very deep emotional connection with her AI partner and their exchanges had gradually matured from talking to love.
The event has rekindled a debate around the present-day impacts of technology, isolation, and human feelings. Besides, it points out the future of both love and platonic relationships in the digital-ruled world.
Although the marriage is not recognized legally in Japan, it highlights the constant presence of Artificial Intelligence in everyday life, gradually leading to discussions about the changing relationships in the digital era.
