BEIJING: A Chinese technology company launched its smartphone on March 5 2026, which combines standard mobile phone functions with emergency lighter capabilities.
The company has introduced the WP63 which includes an integrated electric lighter that enables users to start fires during camping and emergency situations when conventional fire-starting tools are not available.
The phone contains an electric coil which operates like a standard lighter but exists underneath a protective enclosure. The system permits users to initiate fire creation through an application during critical situations.
The WP63 contains a powerful 20000 mAh battery capacity which enables users to operate the device for multiple days without requiring any power restoration. The system contains a strong loudspeaker and a USB-C cable which allows it to operate as a power bank for charging other devices.
The phone has a thickness of 27mm which distinguishes it from standard smartphones. This feature enables the device to be classified as a rugged phone because of its high resistance to damage.
The WP63 electric lighter feature creates outdoor and emergency preparedness needs which make it essential for outdoor enthusiasts who want to use their device for those situations. The device costs approximately $500.
Samsung ends software updates for popular smartphone series
Software updates for a popular Samsung smartphone series used by millions of users worldwide have been discontinued.
According to a foreign news agency, Samsung has stopped issuing security updates for the Galaxy S21 series, which was introduced in 2021. The company had committed to providing Android upgrades for four years and security updates for five years; however, this period has now expired.
As noted by the technology website TechRadar, Samsung has updated its official security update page and removed the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra from the list of devices receiving updates.
The end of these updates means that these phones will no longer receive new software features or improvements. Without security updates, these devices may become more vulnerable to cyberattacks, hacking, and fraud.
Experts warn that, over time, the lack of updates may cause some apps to stop supporting these phones, potentially leading to further issues for users.
