PESHAWAR: Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted cloudy weather, light rain, and more snowfall in the upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from tomorrow to Tuesday.
According to the Meteorological Department, a new series of westerly winds is expected from January 31 to February 03. Rain and snowfall on the mountains are expected in the upper districts of the province, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Chitral (Upper and Lower), Dir Upper and Alwar, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan Upper and Lower, and Kolai palas.
Intermittent rain is also expected in the plain areas of the province, including Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, North and South Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and DI Khan.
In view of the current weather situation, the PDMA has issued instructions to all district administrations and relevant institutions to remain alert and take preventive measures. Snowfall is expected at a few places in the upper areas, and there is also a possibility of a drop in temperature.
Roads are closed, and there is a risk of slippage in the upper areas of Naran, Kaghan, Kalam, and Chitral due to rain and snowfall. Tourists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel in the upper and snowy areas and to exercise caution. Directed the district administration, Rescue 1122, and relevant institutions to remain on high alert.
Citizens are advised to stay in safe places during wind, thunderstorm and snowfall. Farmers and livestock keepers are advised to take measures to protect crops and animals. Directed to continuously monitor rivers and storm drains in sensitive areas.
